Indigenous Languages: Advocating for Our Nations’ Treasures

The world’s indigenous peoples, nations and their languages represent complex system of knowledge that have been in existence for thousands of years. Ensuring these languages continue to live and thrive via new generations being raised speaking them is an critical endeavor globally and one of growing support nationally, from bi-partisan policy makers to native community members committed to advocating for these national treasures.

“Who else is going to speak our languages or protect our languages if we don’t. The language is a natural resource in that way and we are obligated to protect it.” – Brooke Mosay Ammann, Objibwe Language Advocate
